SNIDER MK II** SHORT RIFLE
|This Example Lock Plate Date:||18|
|Manufacturer (s):||B.S.A, Enfield, L.S.A.|
The original conversions were based on the Pattern 1860 short rifle, though a small number of Pattern 1856 short rifles were also converted (these can be identified by the 3 groove rifling).
As a conversion the hammer was shortened and twisted to allow for proper connection with the firing pin. If the original cleaning rod is sill present this will have a squared jag.
The breach is marked with II**.
